The Blackburn Buccaneers are a non-checking team. The team provides a relaxed and joyful environment for people to play hockey. It is a mixed gender club and the skill level varies from complete beginners to experienced players. The club will only accept players who are over the age of 18.
Potential new recruits are encouraged to contact one of the Committee Members to come down to training. These Committee Members can be contacted via the forum or alternatively, email us at committee@blackburnbuccaneers.co.uk. Players must have a prior agreement to train with any of the listed Committee Members and please note we do not tolerate walk ups.
After an initial trial of 3 weeks, players will be required to have player insurance, with either EIHA or IHPA to continue training with the club. As long as our players hold at least one of these memberships, they are suitably insured to take part in training/scrimmages. However, for EIHA officially sanctioned games, all players will be required to hold an EIHA membership and be registered with the Blackburn Buccaneers IHC.
The club has few rules set in stone and the management reserves the right to remove players from the ice and suspend membership. This will only be used in extreme cases, such as bullying, intimidation, violence and reckless behavior towards other players, and any other action deemed unsafe or irresponsible. The Blackburn Buccaneers Constitution is available and explains the club’s position on such issues. |
